WASP Technologies awarded tender to deliver Asset Tracking to Department of Education
WASP Technologies, a software solutions company that specialises in developing wireless enterprise applications on handheld computers, announced today that the company has been awarded the tender to design and develop an Asset Tracking system for the Irish Department of Education.
The Department of Education put out a public tender in June 2001, seeking parties to submit proposals for the supply of a bar code printing and recognition system primarily to be used as an asset management tool at the Department's main offices. The Department was seeking to streamline its asset management procedures through the introduction of a bar coding facility to control the issue and movement of its IT equipment (computers, printers, consumables etc). WASP Technologies solution runs on handheld barcode computers and integrates with a multi-user backend database which will allow The Department of Educations staff access the asset register from multiple geographic locations.

Our solution allows for the tracking of the life cycle of an asset, from receipt through to issue through to disposal. It runs on industry standard Symbol handheld computers, integrating into an open database, which provides rich reporting functionality satisfying all audit requirements".
